Quaint little Tosh!

guitar-6

My body ached as I sat in the backseat of the car after a blissful trek on the Kheerganga trail the previous day. We (my fellow friend and trekker) would be in Tosh, a village in the next 15 minutes. The car made its way up the damp rocky mountain path. It had rained the previous night, thanks to the peak monsoon month July.

My mind wandered to a bathtub with bubbling hot water, aromatic candles lit around the tub, a soothing music which played in tune with my mood………..

The car jerked, oh well I was out of my luxurious reverie and we had certainly reached Tosh. There we were standing before a bridge, the only wooden bridge to get across to Tosh. We opted to stay at the nearest hotel across the bridge owing to our exhausted, famished selves.

We were then joined by our friend who had stayed back and enjoyed Tosh much against treading up the Kheerganga trail. More on Kheerganga in my next blog post.

After a not so luxurious shower, we explored the nook and corners of Tosh only to find a good restaurant/cafe. The village Tosh is at about 7800 feet at the far end of the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh. It is a small village with narrow paved pathways which increases gradually in height as one walks through the village. After Kasol, Rasol, Manikaran, Chalal, Tosh happens to be a haven for tourists. We did find a few homestays and cafes on the way. The village seemed to be on a lazy spell or rather the mountain life happens to be laid-back!?

I shuddered as we climbed up the narrow alleys. A chill breeze pranced about me and I was not in the mood to join in for a dance.

Well we finally gave in to the search and headed to the famous Pinky Didi’s cafe or the 360 deg view cafe. It was a cafe at the edge of the mountain. The Himalayas can be viewed all around this place. So, we were surrounded by the gigantic spell-binding mountain ranges! Wow! I can quite trace back to that feeling!

We ordered for food and enjoyed the sublime views that Himalayas threw at us. Oh my! We were surrounded by the beautiful landscapes; Snow covered ranges, forests, rocky mountains!

Sitting by the cafe, looking at the mesmerising ranges, soaking in the silence or the music of the mountain air, eating sumptuous food, reading a book, sipping on green tea with the sun shining down upon us- Happiness is what I call it!

A few tourists came and went but we the trio sat gaping at the mountains for we were in no hurry to be anywhere else.

So what happened further in Tosh, stays in Tosh…… It ain’t called the ‘Amsterdam of India’ for no reason!

Anastasia

Anastasia is a series of books written by Vladmir Megre translated to English by John Woodsworth….

The first book turned out to be overwhelming. It is a story of an entrepreneur who time and again encounters a lady (a recluse) whom he is unaware of initially, who happens to live in the Siberian taiga (forests). They engage in a conversation and much more only for Anastasia to un-cloud the ignorance of the so called modern man and his technocratic world. It touches on the very aspect of civilizations, connections between man and nature and the purpose of man’s life on this Earth.

It talks about LOVE in the purest form, nature’s connections, bringing life and nurturing it the right way and of course being content.

It is a balm to the ones who have been aching to seek answers to the meaning of life. I for one was intrigued at the depth of the narration and ideologies put across in the book. I had been pondering on these points time and again and this book had me floored and enlightened if I can say!

Well I have read just the first book in the Anastasia series and I am very impatient to jump on to the next. Again, as described earlier in this post, I have mentioned it is a story; real or unreal- It is left for you to decide.

PS: This book may not be in sync with the realists, practical minded folks. Well you may try reading it but I would suggest you read on when the time is right, if you know what I mean. For all those who are seeking for answers to the so called world, man’s purpose, of why this routine random life and people who believe in this miracle called LIFE then this is a must read! I am not sure if it will give you the answers but read nevertheless….

Creating yourself!

create
Creating yourself! A pencil sketch by me.

The irony of life- we are so engrossed in making a secure, safe and abiding by the so-called routine life that we fail to know, understand and moreover create ourselves.

I say this because we are a miracle, we are a wonder! And we are missing out on exploring our precious selves.

Maybe the beauty of it, is not in waiting; for a happy retirement life, for a future some day that you will travel, for a time in life that you feel- will be a joyous one, for a weekend, for the day that you will find peace, for the future days that you will be immensely happy which would be a testimony for your hard work now.

What if the beauty of life is in the NOW? The time that you spend with yourself or your family or your loved ones. The time in the now that you travel, have a doughnut, have the best tea or coffee at the cafe around the corner, get a tattoo…..

You can be whatever you wish for with all the positive intentions!

And the best part of life is maybe to find out about yourself and NOW is the time to do that. Whether you like to read a book or dance, you like to draw or play a guitar or do both, you like to go on a horse ride or a safari,to know about your worst fear, your passion, your values…..well well isn’t it time to find out all about YOU.

Well you may think -‘I know about it, what now?’  Have you felt immense satisfaction and happiness in doing the things that you love? Say for example painting, have you painted your heart out? Have you felt so engrossed in it that you felt one with the world, the universe and felt as if that you were in a state of bliss with no ounce of reality but sheer happiness? Probably those are the things which bring us to who we truly are….

Maybe with the joy of unbecoming everything that is not us, we are creating ourselves.

Shedding all the layers, breaking all the unwanted shards, chipping all the undesirable emotions, relations………

And trust me the day you start learning, understanding, knowing yourself is the day you feel utmost happiness and peace. You learn to forgo the masks and take on yourself as you are with all the love for the world!

Whoa I think I am too philosophical or spiritual….. but trust me the joy of creating you or being you is an enriching journey!

It is never too late to start knowing you, creating you. Feel liberated, it is your life, live the way-create the way that you want to live your life….

Secret to Change: Build the NEW

the-secret-to-change-is-to-focus-all-of-your-energy-not-on-fighting-the-old-but-on-building-the-new

The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.- Socrates

Isn’t it true? We are always hell bent on fighting the staunch opinions, conservative ideologies, thoughts, system, habits, things that have people rolling their eyes upon.

We forget or rather miss on the beauty of creating the new, the joy of building, the mesmerising journey, the unbeatable learning experience and the happiness galore!

Let’s make a change with all positive intentions. Maybe it will surpass the old, change the old perspective, maybe things will change for the better…..

We are never too late to dream a new dream and take on a different path.

We are what we create, be it a piece of art or your life!

So Cheers to Building the New!

Choice

Wow! We make our life by the choices we choose.

We tend to blame people, external factors, our current life when things go wrong or awry. But it is in our hands to make a choice, make a decision to steer our life the way we want to.

We are the sum of all our choices. Isn’t it ironic that we are brave enough to make a choice but somehow somewhere we wobble on facing the consequences? Well yeah, I am talking about the important and big choices that one has to take regarding one’s life.  We forget about what’s best for us.

Also, we fear to make a choice always pondering whether it is right or wrong… Maybe there is no right or no wrong as long as we do it with positive intentions.

Is it the fear of the society, people who judge us, the attitude of our dear ones?

Well, Happiness is a choice, being at peace is a choice, living life on your terms is a choice, making the best of your life is a choice.

You are one choice away from living a totally different life. Make the jump. Live it your way.

We have a choice to live or to exist!

I have learnt that when you are happy you can make and keep your loved ones happy. Period.

What is the important choice you have made in your life? I am all ears!
